In 2011 the Ukrainian fashion designer Ksenia Schnaider founded her fashion studio in Kiev in collaboration with the Russian graphic designer Anton Schnaider. Then thanks to her creations for celebrities (for example Lady Gaga), her catwalks all over the world, her collaborations with Chiara Fumai for Pitti Immagine and all the articles on VOGUE Italy, GRAZIA, she has become a pioneer of fashion made in Ukraina.

It’s not just fashion. This is the message of Ksenia and Anton’s new collection, an explicit waitness about politics and society’s influence on fashion and how fashion is used as a mass media.

SS2015 is a picture of the social and political Ukrainian society, which focuses on a strong topic of a Country which is considered an Unknown Land.

The duo Schnaider starts from this state of uncertainty creating wonderful garments, meeting point of various european sartorial traditions and exaltation of minimalism and slavic culture.

The allusive fashion language merges with the clear socio-political analysis. The “confusing” reality lives thanks to the garments with traditional Ukrainian ornaments and colors, especially black and red on white prints. These colors are like pixels, main characters of this historic and media distortion of present and past of an entire population.
In anticipation of the next collection, we stay tuned on the right frequency to be updated about this Country’s history and fashion through the eyes of Ksenia and Anton Schnaider.
