Egos’s pictures celebrate, like in a love story, the antagonism that’s always been between two different artistic expressions: photography and painting.
The strong and rough style of the painter and engraver Egon Schiele, representative of the Austrian Expressionism, is very aware in these photos’ series. Poses are deformed and without the third dimension, the characters painted by the artist are full of charming erotism and expressivity. Egos’s fashion story is inspired by the individual lines of some works of the artist, based on pictorial-photographic visions that melts together three different people.
The central theme of the whole shooting is the color red, always been the shade of passion, that goes through each framing with a touch of sensuality and contemporaneity. Arranged on a cold backdrop, models stand out in their ungraceful and provocative poses, wearing clothes and make up inspired by the mix of textures and warm shades taken from the artist’s palette.
Not just a word game, the title Egos is a transcript of this fashion editorial: models’ ego emphasizes their identity. No elements to distract, just a visual contact, an instant exchange of glances. The distance vanishes between the artist and his muse, putting an accent on the deep relationship which gives importance to the inner self. Man and his feelings is put at the center of the thought.
